UFC 104 Odds To Win: MMA Betting Matchups & Fight Card

UFC 104: Machida vs. Rua takes place Saturday, Oct. 24 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. starting at 10PM ET.

The main card of Saturday’s pay-per-view event features five fights, but the entire card has 11 fights scheduled. Here is a look at the marquee fights for the night.

Bet UFC 104

Light Heavyweight Championship

The main event of Saturday’s card is for the UFC Light Heavyweight championship when champion Lyoto Machida (15-0) takes on Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (18-3). Machida is currently favored in the fight with a betting line of -500 while Rua has a line of +350. Machida has yet to lose in his career and is 7-0 inside the octagon. Machida has looked unbeatable as of late, especially in his second round KO of former champion, Rashad Evans at UFC 98 when Machida won the title. Machida has won by KO or submission in three of his last four fights. Rua is coming off a first round KO of Chuck Liddell at UFC 97 and a third round TKO of Mark Coleman at UFC 93. Rua is 2-1 in the UFC with his loss being a submission loss to Forrest Griffin. Rua is going to have to get the fight to the ground in order to win as Machida’s striking is to fast and powerful for Rua.

Heavyweight Contenders Collide

The co-headliner of Saturday’s event is a heavyweight bout between Cain Velasquez (6-0) and Ben Rothwell (30-6). Velasquez is favored to win with a betting line of -300 while Rothwell has a line of +220. Velasquez is still young to MMA, but has already beaten notable heavyweights like Jake O’Brien and Cheick Kongo. Velasquez has used his wrestling ability to really control fights and his ground-and-pound is among the best in the UFC, as he bring relentless strikes from the top that render his opponents helpless. Rothwell is making his debut inside the octagon but has a storied career, finding success inside the International Fight League and Affliction. Rothwell has notable wins over Roy Nelson and Ricco Rodriguez, but hasn’t beaten a really marquee fighter. His last loss came against Andrei Arlovski in July of 2008. Rothwell is a striker that has some submission skills, but if this fight goes to the ground, it will favor Velasquez.
