UFC 105 Odds To Win: MMA Betting Matchups & Fight Card

UFC 105: Couture vs. Vera takes place Saturday from the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England.

Saturday’s main card, which will air on Spike at 8PM ET on tape delay, features five fights. Here is a look at the featured bouts.

Bet UFC 105

Light Heavyweights needing a win

The main event of Saturday’s card will be a light heavyweight fight (205 lbs.) between former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Randy Couture (16-10) and Brandon Vera (11-3). Couture is a slight favorite right now with a betting line of -120 while Vera comes in at -110. Couture has lost his last two fights in the heavyweight division and is dropping down to light heavyweight for the second time in his career. Vera also once fought at heavyweight, but was heavily out-sized and made the drop down to light heavyweight, where he has won three out of four fights. Vera is the quicker fighter with more powerful strikes, while Couture is a grappler that will look to get the fight to the ground where he can utilize his ground-and-pound striking. The key to this fight is where it ends up. If the fight stays standing, Vera will get the edge, and if it goes to the ground, Couture will have the edge.

No. 1 Contender match

The co-headliner of Saturday’s card is a welterweight match (170 lbs.) between Mike Swick (14-2) and Dan Hardy (22-6). The winner of this fight will be the No. 1 contender for the UFC welterweight title, currently held by Georges St. Pierre. Swick is the favorite with a betting line of -200 while Hardy has a line of +160. Swick originally fought in the UFC at middleweight, but dropped down to welterweight to gain an edge and Swick is 4-0 in the new division. Swick has knocked out his last two opponents and will get the opportunity to strike with Hardy, who likes to throw his hands. Hardy is 3-0 in his UFC career and he will have a home-field advantage of sorts as he is a native of the United Kingdom. The key to this fight will be which fighter has a stronger chin and which fighter has faster hands. Since both like to strike, whichever fighter lands the big punch first will likely get the victory.
