UFC 127 Odds To Win: MMA Betting Matchups for Penn vs. Fitch
By Drew Sharper
SYDNEY, Australia (TheSpread) – Two of the top welterweights in the world collide to headline UFC 127 on Saturday. Here is a look at the odds and the fight card for this event.
UFC 127 takes place from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia and will air live on Pay Per View at 10PM ET. The card has a total of 12 bouts with the top five being featured on the PPV. The main event is a welterweight contest between B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch.
Fitch enters the fight as the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com as he has betting odds of -200 while Penn comes in with odds of +160. Penn (16-7-1) is making his third run at the welterweight division and is coming off a 21-second KO of rival Matt Hughes back in November. Fitch (23-3) is riding a 5-fight win streak and looking for a title shot. His lone loss in his UFC career was a decision loss to current champion Georges St. Pierre. Penn has typically struggled with strong wrestlers, which Fitch is, but Penn will have the edge in terms of speed and striking ability.
The co-main event is a middleweight contest between Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera. Bisping is the clear favorite heading into the fight with odds of -325 while Rivera comes in with odds of +250. Bisping (20-3) is among the top 185-pound fighters in the world. He is a good boxer with good conditioning and has been stopped just one time in his career. Rivera is a boxer that has a lot of toughness, but lacks a lot of the big-fight experience that Bisping has. Rivera (19-7) has also done a lot of trash talking leading into this fight, so he will get a motivated Bisping on Saturday.
