The United States has four of the top five golfers in the world including the top two in Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The U.S. is also the defending champion, as it won by five points in 2008 and adds Woods to that roster.

Europe has the edge in terms of playing in their continent and the Europeans haven’t lost a Ryder Cup at home since 1993. The last Ryder Cup in Europe saw the U.S. fall by a score of 18.5-9.5. Led by Lee Westwood, Europe has many game Ryder Cup veterans that seem to rise to the occasion of this event.
Who to actually Pick: Europe may be its own worst enemy for this event as their youthful star Rory McIlroy fired an ill-advised shot leading into the event say he or any member of his team would love a crack at Woods in the Ryder Cup. Since then, Woods has slowly improved and as a captain’s pick for this event, I expect him to be heavily motivated to show why he is the world’s best golfer. I look for him to lead the U.S. with his play and also his emotions this weekend. America has the talent, they just need the leadership, and that is where Woods will step up. I suggest making a pick of the United States this weekend.
