Ryder Cup Odds – Tiger Woods Points
Tiger Woods makes his return to the Ryder Cup stage on Friday, but with his up and down 2010 season, how effective will the world’s top golfer be?
In the Ryder Cup, each individual player has the opportunity to win a maximum of five points and that is only if they play during all five portions of the competition. A player can earn a point by winning any of the four team events and also a point in the individual match play on Sunday.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com think it is most likely that Woods will score 0 or just 1 points n the Ryder Cup, as he has been given 5/1 odds for both. The longest odds are that he will score 4.5 points, which has 28/1 odds.
Woods has played in five Ryder Cups for a total of 25 total matches. He is 10-13-2 in those 25 matches, earning a total of 11 points, which is 2.2 points per Ryder Cup.
Woods has struggled in team events going just 7-12-1, but in the individual match play, he is 3-1-1 all-time. Woods’ poor Ryder Cup stats have always been criticized by the media, but with his struggles to even make the team, many feel we will see a motivated Woods this weekend.
Speculation is that Woods will be paired with friend Steve Stricker in team play events. Stricker is fourth in the world rankings and will likely mesh well with Woods and keep him in a good mind set.
