Laird hangs on for victory
ORLANDO, FL (TheSpread) – Martin Laird had a less then impressive final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday, but it was enough for him to win the tournament by one shot.
After leading through the last two rounds, Laird struggled on Sunday, shooting a 3-over 75 to finish at -8 for the tournament, which was enough to finish one shot ahead of Steve Marino, who finished at 7-under for the tournament after shooting an even-par 72 on Sunday.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com, Laird had 15/1 odds to win the tournament coming into the week, meaning a $100 wager on Laird will pay out an additional $1,500.
Coming into the week, Tiger Woods was the favorite to win this event, but Woods finished tied for 24th at 1-under for the tournament after shooting an even-par 72 on Sunday.
