AT&T National Picks
NEWTON SQUARE, PA (TheSpread) – The 2011 AT&T National tees off on Thursday and we have a few selected plays for the golf tournament.
My pick to win the event this weekend is K.J. Choi. According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog, Choi has 20/1 odds to win this tournament. He is coming off a missed cut, but he has always bounced back strong in the following tournament after missing a cut. Choi won this tournament in 2007 and he has five top 10’s on the year. I really feel like he is the man to beat this week.
In terms of matchups, I like Rickie Fowler (-135) vs. Adam Scott (-115). Fowler seems like he is ready to break through soon. He has finished 26th or better in four of his last six tournaments. Scott has missed two of his last three cuts and finished 65th in the other event. Scott had a strong period early in the year but appears to be having some issues as of late.
Another matchup I like is Hunter Mahan (-115) vs. Ryan Moore (-135). Mahan is coming off a few bad efforts the last two weeks, but he had a string of four top 20’s just prior to that. Mahan has also had success at this course, finishing second in 2009. Moore is coming off a second-place finish last week, and he has steadily been in the middle of the tournament pack, but he hasn’t been able to really break through and contend for a championship in most scenarios. I look for Moore to again finish around the top 30, but I suspect Mahan will finish in the top 10.
