Woods falls short of victory
SYDNEY, Australia (TheSpread) – Tiger Woods came close, but couldn’t get past Greg Chalmers for his first win since 2009 as Chalmers beat Woods by two strokes in the Australian Open.
Woods shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday to get to 11-under for the tournament. He actually led midway through the event, but shot a 75 on Saturday to fall back in the field. Ultimately, Woods ended up third with Chalmer winning at -13 overall and John Senden was second at 12-under par.
According to oddsmakers, Chalmers had 50/1 odds to win this tournament, meaning a $100 wager on him will pay out an additional $5,000.
The top of the leaderboard featured a number of top players as pre-event favorite, Adam Scott, finished tied for fourth at 9-under, as did our pick to win, Jason Day.
