According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Garcia is favored to win this matchup with odds of -135 while Day comes in with a money line of +105 to top Garcia.
Garcia is just 53rd in the world rankings, but he has had a pretty solid 2011 with four top 10’s and nine top 20’s. Garcia has never won a major, but he has done very well at the British Open. He has played in 14 Open Championships in his career, and finished in the top 10 in six of them. His best showing was second back in 2007, and he placed 14th last year.
Jason Day has climbed up to eighth in the world rankings. He has recorded seven top 10’s this year, but is still seeking his first win of the year. Day has only played in four majors in his career, but he has finished in the top 10 in three of them. He has finished second in the last two majors, but placed 60th in his only British Open appearance.
The 2011 British Open will be played at Royal St. George in Sandwich, England and runs from Thursday, July 14 to Sunday, July 17.
