According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Kaymer is favored in this matchup with odds of -120 while McDowell has odds of -110 to top Kaymer in the British Open.
Kaymer is third in the world rankings. He has one win on the year and just five top 10’s. Kaymer won the 2011 PGA Championship, his first major championship. He has since failed to finish in the top 30 of the last two majors. At the British Open, Kaymer finished seventh last year, which was his best showing in three appearances.
McDowell is ninth in the world rankings. He has struggled as of late, failing to get a top 10 in his last four tournaments. He has just five top 10’s on the year. McDowell won the 2010 U.S. Open and has finished in the top 25 in two of the last four majors. His best showing in the British Open was 11th in 2005.
The 2011 British Open will be played at Royal St. George in Sandwich, England and runs from Thursday, July 14 to Sunday, July 17.
