According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Stricker is favored to finish ahead of Mickelson in the British Open. Stricker has odds of -130 to win this matchup while Mickelson has a money line of +100.
Stricker is coming off a win at the John Deere Classic, which was his second win in three tournaments. He has now finished in the top 20 in his last eight tournaments. Stricker has never won a major championship in his career. He has placed in the top 10 of the British Open two times in 11 attempts. His best finish was seventh in 2008.
Mickelson hasn’t finished in the top 10 in his last four tournaments and has placed outside the top 50 in his last two. Mickelson has four major championships in his career, but never has won the British Open. He has just one top 10 in this tournament in 17 attempts. His best finish was third back in 2004.
The 2011 British Open will be played at Royal St. George in Sandwich, England and runs from Thursday, July 14 to Sunday, July 17.
