Miracle Network Classic Picks
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (TheSpread) – The 2011 Children’s Miracle Network Classic gets started on Thursday and we have a few suggested plays for this tournament.
My pick to win the event this weekend is Webb Simpson. According to oddsmakers, Simpson has 10/1 odds of winning the tournament. Simpson has had arguably the best year in golf and he is currently riding a nice hot streak. He has finished in the top 10 in five of his last six tournaments and also has two wins in that span. Look for him to be in the hunt come Sunday.
In terms of matchups, I like Justin Rose (-125) vs. Gary Woodland (-105). Rose is ranked 17th in the world rankings and he has finished 20th and 1st in his last two golf tournaments and also has a 6th-place finish in the recent past. Last time he played in this event he finished fourth. Woodland has been on a nice run, finishing in the top 25 of his last five events, but he doesn’t have a top 10 in that span. This is his first time playing in this event and I see Rose contending to win, while Woodland will just be in the middle of the field.
Another matchup I like is Henrik Stenson (-110) vs. Justin Leonard (-120). Stenson has had a year to forget, but he has started to show signs of consistency as of late, finishing 42nd or better in three of his last four tournaments. Leonard has finished in the top 42 in just one of his last 7 tournaments and in just 2 of his last 15. Neither golfer is shaping up to win this tournament, but I feel Stenson will make the cut while Leonard will probably not.
