Toms gets his victory
FORT WORTH, TX (TheSpread) – A week after letting a tournament victory slip away in a playoff, David Toms redeemed himself on Sunday by winning the 2011 Crowne Plaza Invitational.
Toms beat Charlie Wi by one shot thanks in part to a pair of 62’s that Toms shot over the first two rounds of the tournament. Toms shot a 3-under 67 on Sunday to hold off Wi as Toms finished the tournament at -15 and Wi was -14. Wi was three shots ahead of third place, which went to Bo Van Pelt.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Toms had 33/1 odds to win the tournament, meaning a $100 wager on Toms will pay out an additional $3,300.
Zach Johnson finished fourth for the tournament at -9 overall. Pre-event favorite, Matt Kuchar, finished the tournament tied for 16th at -4 overall.
