Deutsche Bank Championship Picks
NORTON, Mass. (TheSpread) – The 2011 Deutsche Bank Championship gets started on Friday morning and we have a few plays to consider for this tournament.
My pick to win the event this weekend is Luke Donald. According to oddsmakers, Donald is the favorite in the tournament with 12/1 odds. I like Donald because he is consistently in contention at each tournament he plays. He has finished in the top 20 of his last four tournaments and has 10 top 10’s on the year. He also finished second in this tournament last year, so he has positive familiarity with the course.
In terms of matchups, I like Adam Scott (-135) over Dustin Johnson (-115). Johnson is coming off a win and that tends to lead to a letdown the next week. He finished 22nd following his win last year and he has struggled at this tournament, placing 57th last year. Adam Scott had a rough week last week, but has been playing very well at the end of the year, placing in the top 10 in three of his last five tournaments. He finished fifth in this tournament last year and won back in 2003.
Another matchup I like is Nick Watney (-120) over Matt Kuchar (-130). Kuchar is also coming off a good showing last week, which hasn’t been real indicative of his play as of late. He has missed two cuts in his last five tournaments. Watney has been pretty solid, placing in the top 15 in four of his last six tournaments. He was leading the FedEx Cup standings prior to last week and did so with a number of top-10 performances.
