Greenbrier Classic Picks
VANCOUVER, BC (TheSpread) – The 2011 Greenbrier Classic takes place this week starting on Thursday. We have a few picks to consider for this event.
My pick to win the event this weekend is Sergio Garcia. According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog, Garcia has 16/1 odds to win the tournament. The Spaniard seems due as he has been improving greatly all season. Garcia has placed in the top 10 in his last three golf tournaments and in this weak field, look for him to contend to win.
In terms of matchups, I like Ryan Palmer (-135) vs. Brian Gay (-115). Palmer has been having a strong year, as he has five top 5’s this year. Palmer has also placed inside the top 21 in nine of his last 10 tournaments. Gay hasn’t quite been so strong, missing the cut in two of his last five tournaments. In that span, he finished 59th and 63rd in two of the other tournaments.
Another matchup I like is Andres Romero (-110) vs. J.B. Holmes (-140). Holmes has failed to crack the top 45 of his last four tournaments, including a missed cut at the British Open. Romero is coming off a third-place finish last week, which was his second top 10 in his last four events. Romero has three top 10’s on the year and has been playing his best golf of the year as of late.
