Stallings wins in a playoff
WHITE SULPHUR SPRING, WV (TheSpread) – Back-to-back birdies to close regular and start a playoff allowed Scott Stallings to get his first career PGA Tour win as he won the Greenbrier Classic on Sunday.
Stallings shot a 1-under 69 on Sunday to finish the tournament at 10-under par. That put him in a three-way tie for first with Bob Estes and Bill Haas. On the first playoff hole, Stallings birdied the par-3 18th, which he also did to close the round. That bested the other two, who both made par.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Stallings had 150/1 odds to win the tournament to start the week. A $100 wager on Stallings will pay out an additional $15,000.
The trio finished one shot ahead of a group of five golfers that came in at -9 overall. Anthony Kim actually led the tournament entering the final round, but shot a 4-over 74 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 14th place.
