SILVIS, IL (TheSpread) – The 2011 John Deere Classic takes place this week leading up to the 2011 British Open. Here is a look at the odds for this week’s PGA event.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Steve Stricker is the favorite to win this week with 6/1 odds while other short odds to win are Jason Day (10/1), Zach Johnson (18/1), and David Toms (18/1).

Stricker is the two-time defending champion of this tournament and last year he set the tournament record by shooting a 26-under 258 through the four rounds. Stricker is fifth in the world rankings and he has finished in the top 20 in his last seven events.

Jason Day ranks seventh in the world. He has finished in the top 10 in five of his last six tournaments and is coming off a runner-up finish at the U.S. Open. Day has placed 15^th in this tournament the last two years.

Johnson is 36^th in the world rankings. He has finished in the top 32 of his last six tournaments, but is winless on the year. He placed second in this tournament in 2009.

Toms won this tournament back in 1997 and he is currently 27^th in the world rankings. Toms has missed two of his last three cuts, but in the last nine tournaments he has made the cut, he has finished at least 25^th in eight of them.

The 2011 John Deere Classic will be played at TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois and runs from Thursday, July 7 to Sunday, July 10.
