Stricker wins John Deere again
SILVIS, IL (TheSpread) – Steve Stricker had an up-and-down final round, but still found a way to win the John Deere Classic for a third-straight time on Sunday.
Stricker at one point held a five-shot lead late in the final round, but back-to-back bogies on the back nine opened the door for Kyle Stanley to get into the picture. Stricker eventually won the title by making a lengthy birdie putt from off the green on No. 18.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Stricker had 6/1 odds to win the tournament, meaning a $100 wager on Stricker will pay out an additional $100.
Stricker and Stanley were the only real teams to threaten for the championship, as they were the lone golfers above 20-under-par. Stricker finished at -22 while Stanley was -21.
