Woods vs. Mickelson Odds
AUGUSTA, GA (TheSpread) – Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are always the frontrunners to win the Masters and that is the case this year too, but which will finish ahead of the others this week?
According to online sportsbook Sportsbook.com Mickelson is the favorite to win this matchup with odds of -170 while Woods has odds of +135.
Mickelson is a three-time Masters winner and is the defending champion of the event. He has finished in the top 10 in 11 of his last 12 Masters tournaments. His worst finish during that stretch was 24th in 2007. Mickelson is also coming off a win last week in the Shell Houston Open.
Woods has won the Masters four times, the last coming in 2005. His worst finish since he turned pro in this event is 22nd, which was in 2004. Woods has a run of six-straight Masters where he has finished sixth or better. Woods has not won a tournament since 2009, but he still finished fourth in the Masters last year.
Mickelson got hot at the right time, but he was struggling prior to last week’s win. Woods has continued to struggle, but he seems to turn it on at Augusta. I am a little surprised that the odds are so strong in Mickelson’s favor given Woods’ track record at this tournament. I expect these two to be among the contenders on Sunday, then it is anyone’s guess.
