Masters Tournament Odds
AUGUSTA, GA (TheSpread) – The first major of the 2011 Golf Season takes place starting Thursday as the Masters begins play from Augusta National.
The major championships feature all of the best golfers in the world and the three-time Masters champion and defending champion, Phil Mickelson, is the favorite to win the title again in 2011.
Mickelson has 5/1 odds to win according to online sportsbook Sportsbook.com. Other short odds to win the tournament are Tiger Woods (7/1) and Nick Watney (15/1). Bubba Watson, Lee Westwood, and Dustin Johnson each have 20/1 odds to win as well.
Mickelson is coming off a win in last week’s Shell Houston Open and he has finished in the top 10 in 12 of the last 13 Masters Tournaments. Mickelson is now third in the world rankings and plays this course as well as anyone.
Woods has won the Masters four times, the last coming in 2005. He has finished in the top 6 in his last three Masters Tournaments. Woods has not won an event since 2009 and is now seventh in the world rankings. He has not finished in the top 5 of any event this year.
Watney has only played in three Masters in his career. He has placed in the top 20 of all three, including a seventh-place finish last year. Watney has finished 13th or better in his seven golf tournaments.
The group of Watson, Westwood, and Johnson are all seeking to win their first major championship.
