Crane wins in a playoff
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA (TheSpread) – Ben Crane posted a tremendous round, and then outlasted Webb Simpson in a playoff to win the 2011 McGladrey Classic on Sunday.
Crane shot a 7-under 63 on Sunday to finish the tournament at -15 overall, which put him in a tie with Simpson, who shot a 4-under 66 on Sunday. After two playoff holes, Crane emerged as the winner.
According to oddsmakers, Crane had 55/1 odds to win the McGladrey Classic, meaning a $100 wager on Crane will pay out an additional $5,500.
The top 5 all finished in sole possession of their spot as Michael Thompson ended up third, Louis Oosthuizen was alone in fourth and Trevor Immelman was in fifth place.
