Vegas gets first PGA victory
LA QUINTA, CA (TheSpread) – Jhonattan Vegas, a rookie on tour, surprised the golf world by winning the 2011 Bob Hope Classic in just his fifth PGA start.
Scott emerged as the winner in a three-way playoff over Bill Haas and Gary Woodland. Vegas shot a 3-under 69 to get to 27-under for the tournament while Haas shot a 66 on Sunday and Woodland shot a 69.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Vegas had 75/1 odds to win, meaning a $100 wager on Vegas will pay out an additional $7,500.
Ryan Palmer finished one shot shy of the playoff as he shot an 8-under 64 on Sunday to get to 26-under for the tournament while Brian Gay shot a 10-under 62 on Sunday to get to 24-under for the tournament.
