Northern Trust Open Odds
PACIFIC PASLISADES, CA (TheSpread) – The 2011 PGA Tour makes its stop at Riviera Country Club this week for the playing of the Northern Trust Open.
This year’s field is pretty solid with many of the top golfers in the world competing this week. Defending champion Steve Stricker looks to repeat as champion while Phil Mickelson enters the tournament as the favorite.
Mickelson has 8/1 odds to win according to online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com while other short odds to win are Stricker (12/1), Matt Kuchar (20/1), Hunter Mahan (20/1), and Paul Casey (20/1).
Mickelson sits fourth in the world rankings right now and he is coming off his second top-10 of 2011 last week at Pebble Beach. Mickelson won this event in 2008 and 2009, but placed 45th last year.
Stricker is the defending champion for this tournament and he ranks eighth in the world right now. Stricker also has two top 10’s in 2011.
Charles Howell III (50/1) is a former winner of this event, as he took the title in 2007 while Canadian Mike Weir (Field 10/1) was champion in 2004 and 2003. Ernie Els (28/1) is also a former champion of this event, as he won in 1999. All will be competing this weekend.
