Sony Open Odds
HONOLULU, HI (TheSpread) – The PGA Tour hosts its first tournament with a full field this week as the 2011 Sony Open tees off from Honolulu, Hawaii.
Steve Stricker is the favorite to win this event with 7/2 odds to win according to online sportsbook Sportsbook.com. Other short odds to win are Ernie Els (6/1), Jim Furyk (6/1), and Matt Kuchar (7/1).
Stricker is the top-ranked golfer in the field as he ranks sixth in the world. Stricker placed third in this event last year and 23rd in 2009. Stricker didn’t miss a cut last year and he finished in the top 15 in 11 events, which includes two victories.
Els is a two-time winner of this event, as he won the championship in 2003 and 2004. The last non-American to win the tournament was K.J. Choi, who won the title in 2008. Choi has 12/1 odds to win this year’s tournament. Another former winner in this year’s field is Zach Johnson, who won in 2009 and has 14/1 odds to win this year.
Stricker is currently fourth in the FedEx Cup with 123 points. Points leader Jonathan Byrd is coming off a win last week to open the 2011 season and he has 14/1 odds to win this week’s event.
