According to oddsmakers, Luke Donald is the favorite to win the event with 13/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Webb Simpson (12/1) while four other golfers have 16/1 odds.
Donald is No. 1 in the world rankings and is fourth in the FedEx Cup standings. Donald has one tour win and 12 top 10’s on the year. Donald has finished in the top 20 of his last six golf tournaments. Donald finished second in this tournament last year.
Simpson is leading the playoff standings by 1,420 points over Dustin Johnson. Simpson has two tour wins and 10 top 10’s this year. He has finished in the top 10 of his last four tournaments, which includes two victories. Simpson is currently 13th in the world rankings. He didn’t qualify for last year’s event.
The group of golfers with 16/1 odds includes Johnson, as well as Adam Scott, who won this tournament back in 2006.
The 2011 PGA Tour Championship is played at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga. and will start on Thursday, Sept. 22 and conclude on Sunday, Sept. 25.
