Wilson gets second win of 2011
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – It took some extra time, but Mark Wilson won his second event in 2011 on Monday as he beat Jason Dufner in a playoff to win the 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Wilson shot a 2-under 69 in the final round to finished tied with Dufner at 18-under par for the tournament. Dufner shot a 5-under 66 in his final round. Wilson won the tournament on the second playoff hole, as he knocked in a birdie for the victory.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Wilson had 30/1 odds to win the event, meaning a $100 bet on him will pay out an additional $3,000.
Dufner and Wilson finished two shots ahead of Martin Laird and Vijay Singh, who each finished at 16-under for the tournament.
Pre-tournament favorite Phil Mickelson, finished tied for 29th overall after shooting 10-under for the event. Mickelson shot back-to-back even par 71’s over the final two rounds.
