RBC Canadian Open Picks
VANCOUVER, BC (TheSpread) – The 2011 RBC Canadian Open takes place this week starting on Thursday. We have a few picks to consider for this event.
My pick to win the event this weekend is Lucas Glover. According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog, Glover has 40/1 odds to win this event, making him a bit of a long shot, but I like how he has played recently. He played well at the British Open, finishing 12th, and he has a win to his credit this year. Glover may be on a nice upswing, and with long odds, he can have a big payout.
In terms of matchups, I like Luke Donald (-140) vs. Matt Kuchar (-110). Donald didn’t play last week at the British Open, but he has been a consistent top-10 player in most weekly events that he has competed in. Kuchar has been in a bit of a funk, missing the cut at the British Open and also failing to crack the top 10 in his two events prior. Kuchar is winless on the year while Donald has three.
Another matchup I like is Anthony Kim (+125) vs. Hunter Mahan (-175). This is strictly an underdog play as matchups are hard to find big odd differentials. Kim is coming off a strong showing at the British Open, placing fifth. He has been really struggling over recent years, but last week could be the start of Kim returning to his old form. Mahan hasn’t been real steady, missing two of his last four cuts. He hasn’t been in the top 10 in his last five tournaments. It’s not a safe bet to say Mahan will be in the mix, which makes Kim an interesting play.
