2011 RBC Canadian Open Results
(The Spread) – The 2011 RBC Canadian Open came down to a playoff on Sunday and Sean O’Hair came out victorious for the fourth time this year.
O’Hair compiled a final round of 2-under-par 68 on the first hole of a playoff with Kris Blanks to win the 2011 RBC Canadian Open. O’Hair cobbled together back-to-back birdies starting at the par-5 seventh to make the turn just a stroke off the lead. Then, on the back nine, he bogeyed twice but rebounded with birdies to earn a share of the lead and forcing a playoff.
Neither O’Hair nor Blanks found the fairway in the playoff but O’Hair chipped onto the fairway while Blanks put his ball in the greenside bunker. Both players were roughly 20-feet away to save par and O’Hair notched his putt next to the hole for a bogey. Blanks then chipped past the hole and then rimmed out his bogey putt.
O’Hair started the day three shots behind leader Bo Van Pelt before the shooting 68 to get into the playoff with Blanks. This was the first non-major without a bogey-free round since 2008 and only eight players finished under par.
Coming into the tournament, O’Hair was an 80/1 long shot to win the 2011 RBC Canadian Open while Blanks was 125/1. According to odds makers from online sports book Bodog, Luke Donald was a 7/1 favorite while Matt Kuchar had the next best odds at 12/1.
