Dustin Johnson wins The Barclays
EDISON, NJ (TheSpread) – Dustin Johnson won a weather-shortened Barclays on Saturday by two shots and now has the lead in the FedEx Cup standings.
Johnson played well in each of the three rounds of the tournament, shooting a 5-under 66 or better in each of the rounds. He posted a 6-under 65 on Saturday to finish the tournament at -19 overall, two shots ahead of Matt Kuchar.
The event was cut down to 54 holes due to the threat of Hurricane Irene hitting the east coast on Sunday.
According to oddsmakers, Johnson had 33/1 odds to win the tournament entering the week, so a $100 wager on Johnson will pay out $3,300.
The win pushed Johnson from 19th in the FedEx Cup standings to first. He leads Kuchar by 784 points with Nick Watney, now in third, 1,435 points in back of Johnson. Watney led the standings coming into the tournament.
