PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – The 2011 Players Championship is halfway complete and there are plenty of big names near the top of the leader board.

David Toms is the surprising leader at 10-under par after he shot a 4-under 68 on Friday. Toms is one stroke ahead of Nick Watney, who sits in second at -9 for the tournament while a group of the world’s best sits at -8, including Graeme McDowell, Steve Stricker, and Luke Donald.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com, Donald is the favorite to win the tournament with 9/2 odds while Watney has 7/1 odds and Toms has 8/1 odds. McDowell joins Stricker with 10/1 odds.
Stricker and Donald each shot a 5-under 67 on the day to get to -8 for the tournament as they were the biggest movers on Friday. Watney was in the lead after the first round, but shot just a 1-under 71 on Friday to get to -9.
The 2011 The Players Championship will be played at TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It continues play on Saturday and will run through Sunday. Weekend coverage of the event can be found on NBC.
