According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Kuchar is the favorite to win this matchup as he has odds of -150 while Kaymer comes in with a money line of +120.
Until recently, Kuchar hasn’t been much of a force in major championships. He has finished 27th or better in his last five, but prior to that, he had been cut in his last three. Kuchar placed sixth in last year’s U.S. Open, his best finish in a major ever. Kuchar is currently sixth in the world rankings. He has finished in the top 10 in his last two tournaments and eight times this year.
Kaymer has only played in 13 majors in his career, but he has four top 10’s in that span. He placed eighth in last year’s U.S. Open and won the 2010 PGA Championship. Kaymer is currently third in the world rankings after holding the No. 1 spot for a period during the last year. Kaymer has just one top 10 in his last four tournaments and only four on the year in total.
The 2011 U.S. Open will be played at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland and runs from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19.
