McIlroy vs. Mickelson U.S. Open Odds
BETHESDA, Maryland (TheSpread) – Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson are two of the favorites to win this year’s U.S. Open, but which golfer will get closer to winning this week?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, both men have odds of -115 for this matchup and the two are both among the short odds to win with 12/1 odds each.
McIlroy is eighth in the world rankings. He has yet to win a major in his career, but he has finished 15th or better in his last three major tournaments. McIlroy was cut in last year’s U.S. Open, but he finished 10th in his debut in 2009. McIlroy led heading into the final round of the Masters this year, but fell apart in the last 18 to not finish in the top 10. In terms of recent play, McIlroy has finished in the top 10 in three of his last five tournaments. He has six top 10’s this year.
Mickelson is fifth in the world rankings. He has four major championships to his credit, but he has never won the U.S. Open. It is a tournament he has done well at, finishing in the top 10 nine different times. He has also finished second in this tournament five different times. Mickelson has recently not been too stellar. He has just three top 10’s this year and just one in his last four tournaments.
The 2011 U.S. Open will be played at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland and runs from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19.
