According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Stricker is the favorite in this matchup with odds of -125, while Mahan has a money line of -105 to win this matchup.
Stricker has never won a major championship in his career and he has three top 10’s in his career at the U.S. Open. His best outing in the tournament came back in 1999, when he placed fifth. Stricker is currently fourth in the world rankings. He is coming off a win at The Memorial and he has now placed in the top 20 in his last six golf tournaments.
Mahan has played in five U.S. Opens and he has been cut in two of them and placed 18th or better in the other three. His career-best finish at this tournament is sixth in 2009. Mahan has yet to win a major championship in his career as well. He is currently 20th in the world rankings and placed in the top 16 in five of his last six tournaments.
The 2011 U.S. Open will be played at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland and runs from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19.
