Glover wins in a playoff
CHARLOTTE, NC (TheSpread) – It took an extra hole, but Lucas Glover got his first win since the 2009 U.S. Open as he beat Jonathan Byrd in a playoff to win the Wells Fargo Championship.
Glover and Byrd finished the tournament at 15-under par following Sunday’s final round. Glover shot a 3-under 69 in the fourth round while Byrd finished with an even-par 72.
On the first playoff hole, Byrd hit a wayward tee shot that opened the door for Glover to get the victory.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Glover had 100/1 odds to win the tournament, meaning a $100 wager on Glover to win will pay out an additional $10,000.
Rory Sabbatini shot a 7-under 65 on Sunday to climb up to -14 for the tournament, which put him alone in third place. Bill Haas finished in fourth at -13 while Kevin Na shot -12 for the tournament to finish fifth.
