Accenture Match Play Picks
MARANA, AZ (TheSpread) – The 2011 WGC Accenture Match Play Championship tees off Wednesday morning and I have a few suggested plays for this tournament.
When it comes to making a pick for this tournament, I like to see consistency of success, that is why my picks are Tiger Woods and Geoff Ogilvy. Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Woods 12/1 odds to win and Ogilvy 25/1 odds to win.
Woods is a three-time winner of this event and a runner up another year. He tends to do pretty well in match play and though he hasn’t had a win since 2009, he did fair well in the 2011 Ryder Cup, which is match play format.
Ogilvy won this event in 2009 and 2006 and was runner up in 2007. He has the kind of play that is consistent and forces his opponents to have to beat him because he will not beat himself. Ogilvy has been steady in tournament play, finished in the top 20 in seven of his last eight tournaments. It will be no surprise if he is the last man standing in this tournament on Sunday.
