Watney wins WGC Event
MIAMI, FL (TheSpread) – After laying low most of the week, Nick Watney exploded on Sunday to win the WGC Cadillac Championship by two shots.
Watney shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday to finish at 16-under for the tournament, two shots ahead of third-round leader, Dustin Johnson, who finished at 14-under after shooting a 1-under 71 on Sunday.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Watney had 10/1 odds to win the tournament, meaning a $100 wager on Watney will pay out an additional $1,000.
Pre-event favorite Martin Kaymer ended up finished tied for 24th at -4 for the tournament after shooting back-to-back 74’s over the weekend. Tiger Woods finished the weekend strong, finished -8 for the tournament after shooting a 66 on Sunday. Woods was tied for 10th with four other golfers.
