Kaymer posts 63 to win WGC event
SHANGHAI, Chind (TheSpread) – It has been a rough year for Martin Kaymer, but he managed to build some momentum for 2012 on Sunday as he won the WGC-HSC Champions event.
Kaymer wasn’t really in contention entering the final day, but shot a 9-under 63 in the final round to win the tournament by three shots over Fredrik Jacobson, who had a 1-under 71 on Sunday.
According to oddsmakers, Kaymer had 20/1 odds to win this tournament, meaning a $100 wager on him will pay out an additional $2,000.
Kaymer managed to win in a very competitive field that saw Graeme McDowell finish third at 16-under par while the likes of Charl Schwartzel and Rory McIlroy tie for fourth place at 15-under par for the tournament.
