Simpson wins Wyndham Title
SEDGEFIELD, NC (TheSpread) – A 3-under 67 is all Webb Simpson needed on Sunday to pick up a three-shot win in the 2011 Wyndham Championship.
Simpson was steady all week, shooting at least 3-under in each round to finish the tournament at 18-under. He finished three ahead of George McNeill and four ahead of Tommy Gainey.
According to oddsmakers Simpson was one of the favorites to win, with 20/1 odds entering the tournament. A $100 wager on Simpson will pay out an additional $2,000.
The win for Simpson moves him up to third in the FedEx Cup Standings, with the playoffs getting started next week.
