HSBC Championship Picks
ABU DHABI (TheSpread) – The 2012 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship gets started on early Thursday morning and we have some suggested plays for this event.
My pick to win the event this weekend is Martin Kaymer. According to oddsmakers, Kaymer is one of the favorites to win with 13/2 odds. Kaymer is a three-time champion of this tournament, and he also won the event last year. Kaymer has been on a nice string to end the year. Due to his strength at this tournament, I like him to find a way to win again.
Another play I like this weekend is the other favorite, Rory McIlroy, who also has 13/2 odds. McIlroy has finished 11th or better in his last seven tournaments and he has been making his way up the world ranking ladder over the last year. He finished second in this tournament in 2011 and third in 2010, which says he has a good feel for this golf course.
In terms of a dark horse, I look for Francisco Molinari. He has 50/1 odds to win the event and he is currently 46th in the world rankings. Molinari has been steady to end the 2011 season, finished in the top 25 in six of his last eight tournaments. Molinari placed eighth in this tournament last year.
