This Pete Dye designed course opened in 1967 and hosted the 1991 PGA Championship, which featured unknown John Daly, who came out of nowhere to win the event. The course measures at over 7,500 yards and is a par 72 at Crooked Stick.
Woods hasn’t won a major but he has won three tournaments this year. He’s number three in the FedEx Cup standings, 1,382 behind McIlroy. If the putts are dropping this week, he should win. He was only two strokes behind McIlroy last week and one behind Oosthuizen. He had just four bogies all week and shot a bogey-free round of 66 in his final round.
Is Phil back? Mickelson is ith in points, 2,629 behind McIlroy. He played well last week, tying for fourth place with Dustin Johnson at the Deutsche Bank. As one of the game’s long hitters, he should fare well at Crooked Stick. Last week, amazingly was his first top 10 on tour since the Byron Nelson in May. Considering the course and some renewed confidence, he’s a good bet here.
Longshot
Senden is coming off a solo 12th last week which was his fifth top 20 in his last seven tournaments. He double bogeyed the very last hole last week to fall out of the top 10. He is fourth on the PGA TOUR in greens in regulation and 17th in adjusted scoring and is as solid as they come at the moment. He has the short game to contend at Cog Hill.
