Beljan gets first victory
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (TheSpread) – Charlie Beljan didn’t have a flashy final round, but did enough to win the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic on Sunday.
Beljan scored a 3-under 69 on Sunday, which was enough to put him at 16-under overall and two shots ahead of the field. His tournament victory was set up thanks to a 8-under 64 in his second round.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Beljan had 150/1 odds to win this event, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $15,000.
Beljan’s victory was made even more improbable this week as he found himself in the hospital after his round on Friday after having a panic attack. The victory was the first of his career.
Matt Every and pre-tournament favorite, Robert Garrigus, each finished at -14 for the tournament, 2 shots out of the lead. Both men also shot 4-under 68s for the final round.
