Gainey rallies to win
SEA ISLAND, GA (TheSpread) – Tommy Gainey had an amazing Sunday to pick up an improbable win in the McGladrey Classic PGA event.
Gainey wasn’t really in the hunt to win entering the final round, but he posted a 10-under 60 on the day to finish the tournament at -16 overall and edge David Toms by one shot.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Gainey had 175/1 odds to win this week’s tournament, which means a wager of $100 on him will pay out an additional $17,500.
Toms had an impressive day himself, shooting a 7-under 63 to finish at -15 overall, but it wasn’t quite enough. Jim Furyk came in third at -14 overall after shooting just a 1-under 69 on Sunday.
