According to oddsmakers, Tiger Woods is the favorite to be the top American, has he has 9/2 odds. Other short odds are Dustin Johnson (12/1) and Jason Dufner (14/1).
Woods is currently second in the world rankings and he has three wins in 2012. Woods has won the PGA Championship four times in his career. He has a total of 14 major titles in his career. He missed the cut in the 2011 PGA Championship, but is coming off a third-place finish at the British Open.
Dustin Johnson is 18th in the world rankings. He has placed in the top 20 in four of his last seven tournaments. He has one victory on the year. Johnson has never won a major championship but he has placed in the top 10 of this event in two of his three appearances.
Dufner is 8th in the world rankings. He has placed in the top 10 in four of his last five events and has two wins on the year. Dufner is seeking his first major championship. He has finished in the top 5 in this tournament the last two years and has placed 31st or better in his last four majors.
