McIlroy rolls to PGA victory
KIAWAH ISLAND, SC (TheSpread) – Rory McIlroy put his stamp on the golfing world on Sunday, easily winning the 2012 PGA Championship.
The 23-year-old McIlroy won his second major championship on Sunday thanks to great play on the tees and greens. He shot a 6-under 66 in his final round, which combined with a 67 to close his third round, put him at -13 overall for the tournament. He won by eight shots over David Lynn.
The win also pushes McIlroy to No. 1 in the world rankings. According to oddsmakers, McIlroy had 20/1 odds to win this week, as he had been struggling as of late. Those that put a $100 wager on McIlroy to win will receiver a pay out of $2,000.
Tiger Woods entered the third round tied for the lead, but ended up finishing in a tie for 11th at -2 overall. He shot an even-par 72 in the fourth round after posting a 74 in round three.
