McIlroy wins Deutsche Bank Title
NORTON, MA (TheSpread) – Rory McIlroy took over the lead in the 2012 FedEx Cup Playoffs on Monday, as he won the Deutsche Bank Championship.
McIlroy posted a 4-under 67 on Monday to finish the tournament at -20 overall, one shot ahead of Louis Oosthuizen. Oosthuizen shot a 71 on Monday to finish at -19 overall after holding a two-shot lead entering the final round.
Tiger Woods came in third place for the tournament at -18 overall. Woods carded a 5-under 66 on Monday.
According to oddsmakers, McIlroy had 10/1 odds to win this event to begin the week, which means a wager of $100 will pay out an additional $1,000.
McIlroy now leads Nick Watney by over 1,300 points for first in the FedEx Cup standings. Woods is just 51 points behind Watney for second with two tournaments remaining.
