According to oddsmakers, Woods is the favorite to win this tournament, as he has 7/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Webb Simpson (15/1) while Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Steve Stricker each have 20/1 odds. This tournament is in just its third year of existence.
Woods is fourth in the world rankings and he has won three times this year, with all three coming over his last seven tournaments. This is his first appearance in this tournament.
Simpson is fifth in the world rankings and still riding the high of his U.S. Open victory. He placed 29th in his last tournament and has missed the cut in two of his last four outings. He missed the cut at this tournament in 2010 but finished ninth last year.
Stricker is 13th in the world rankings. He has just two top 15’s in his last six tournaments. He has not played in this tournament over recent years.
Mickelson is 15th in the world rankings. He has struggled as of late, failed to crack the top 20 in four of his last five tournaments. He didn’t play in this tournament last year.
Dustin Johnson is 16th in the world rankings. He won a tournament three weeks ago, but has finished better than 44th place since. Johnson hasn’t played in this tournament.
