McIlroy wins Honda Classic
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – (TheSpread) – Rory McIlroy secured the top spot in the world golf rankings on Sunday as he won the 2012 PGA Honda Classic.
McIlroy was consistent all weekend, shooting under par in each of his rounds. He finished the tournament 12-under par after shooting a 1-under 69 on Sunday. He finished two shots ahead of Tiger Woods, who placed second at 10-under overall.
According to oddsmakers, McIlroy had odds of 8/1 to win this tournament entering the weekend, meaning a $100 wager on McIlroy will pay out an additional $800.
Woods struggled throughout the week but put together a tremendous final round, shooting an 8-under 62 to climb up the leader board. Woods finished his round with an eagle on the 18th hole.
Lee Westwood also had a big Sunday, shooting a 7-under 63 to finish in fourth place at 8-under for the tournament.
