Leishman rallies to win
CROMWALL, CT (TheSpread) – Nobody was expecting Marc Leishman to win the 2012 Travelers Championship entering Sunday’s round, but that is just what he did.
Leishman was six shots off the lead entering the final round, but managed to post an 8-under 62 on Sunday to get to 14-under for the tournament. Leishman then waited around for over two hours before becoming the winner, as the rest of the field failed to top his 14-under score.
According to oddsmakers, Leishman had 100/1 odds to get his first PGA Tour win this week, this means that a $100 wager on him to win will pay out an additional $10,000.
Roland Thatcher and Brian Davis entered the day at 12-under par, but both shot even-round 70’s to finish tied for fourth.
Bubba Watson actually ended up in second place with Charley Hoffman at 13-under par. Watson posted a 5-under 65 on Sunday while Hoffman shot a 4-under 66.
