CHARLOTTE, NC (TheSpread) – The Wells Fargo Championship is next up on the PGA Tour and the event features a number of top players, including Tiger Woods.

According to oddsmakers, Rory McIlroy is favored to win this event, as he has 7/1 odds. Woods has been given 9/1 odds while other short odds to win are Phil Mickelson (12/1) and Lee Westwood (14/1).

McIlroy won this event in 2010. He is currently second in the world rankings, but coming off his worst performance of the year, as he placed 40^th at the Masters. McIlroy had finished in the top 5 of his first five tournaments of the year.

Woods won this tournament back in 2007. He is currently seventh in the world rankings, but also finished 40^th in the Masters, his last tournament. Prior to that, Woods has finished in the top 20 of his last seven tournaments that he was able to fully compete in.

Mickelson is 10^th in the world rankings. He has placed in the top 5 in his last two tournaments and in four of his last six. Mickelson placed ninth in this tournament last year.

Westwood is third in the world rankings. He is coming off a win in his last outing, with was on the Asian Tour. He has placed in the top 20 in 21 of his last 26 tournaments. He missed just one cut in that stretch.

The 2012 Wells Fargo Championship takes place from Quail Hollow in Charlotte, N.C. and will begin on Thursday, May 3 and conclude on Sunday, May 6.
