RBC Heritage Tournament Free Picks
HILTON HEAD, SC (ATS Consultants) – The RBC Heritage from Hilton Island, S.C. is the tournament that comes after the Masters.
Last week’s Grand Slam was a classic in Augusta with Bubba Watson winning his first major in a playoff over Louis Oosthuizen. Neither player is here this week but there are still some very good golfers that will have to be precise at Harbour Town Golf Links, which is ranked second over the last 10 years on tour in hardest to hit greens in regulation. This is a tough course but with the weather expected to be good, there should be some low scores. Winners of the last six Heritage events are all back including last year’s champ-Brandt Snedeker and 2010 champ Jim Furyk. The favorite is Luke Donald who once again did not contender at a major.
Matt Kuchar 14-1
Kuchar was very solid near his hometown of August last week. He was the only golfer under par in all four rounds other than Bubba Watson. He has four straight top 10s overall and has not missed a cut coming into this week. Kuchar is 9th in greens in regulation (70.8%), which is good for this tournament. He has 3 PGA Tour wins and is ranked 14th in the world with a scoring average of 69.46. He’s won $17.9 million for his career.
Webb Simpson 22-1
Simpson has struggled to finish in his last two starts (78s) but he hasn’t missed a cut this season and has three top 10s. He’s finished 14th in his last two starts at Heritage. He had two rounds of even par or better at the Masters. He’s 13th in the world right now and has a 70.18 scoring average. Simpson has two career wins (all in 2011) and won $6.3 million last year. He’s fifth in birdie average at 4.32 and 17th in greens in regulation with 69.64%.
Jason Dufner 40-1
Dufner had a solid week at the Masters, making the cut and was in contention early, before trailing off with two 75s. He finished 8th at the Phoenix Open, which was his best finish this year. Last year, he had a top-15 finish at the Heritage. He has made 8 of 9 cuts this year. He had two second-place finishes last year and three in his career. He ranks 32nd in the world and averages 70.23. He’s 41st in greens in regulation at 67.8%. He’s due to win a tournament like this.
